September 22nd, 2016 – Air Choice One is pleased to announce that the Department of Transportation has approved extending Air Choice One current Essential Air Service contract to February 28th, 2017 as well as approving Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport as an alternate hub service for Mason City, Iowa. The change in hub service will begin November 7th, 2016 with 12 weekly nonstop flights to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and 12 weekly nonstop flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Mason City, IA will also have 10 weekly flights with one stop, either in Fort Dodge, IA or Burlington, IA to Lambert–St. Louis International Airport.
Air Choice One began service in Mason City, Iowa on November 17th, 2014 and has been providing the community with daily flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Lambert–St. Louis International Airport, since start of service.
Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport will offer Mason City, IA residents a new opportunity for expanded travel destinations. “Bringing back this service from Mason City, IA to Minneapolis, MN opens an opportunity to residents of Mason City, IA and the surrounding communities to enjoy what Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport has to offer, including connections to the world”, says Shane Storz, CEO of Air Choice One. Storz hopes that with the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport – being a hub that Mason City, IA operated into for years will continue to grow passenger ridership, and will help drive passenger traffic up in and out of the Mason City Municipal Airport.
