On July 12th the Mason City Municipal Airport received a discrepancy free inspection by the Federal Aviation Administration, the tenth year in a row that the airport has received this distinction. The FAA conducts these inspections annually to ensure the airport is being maintained and operated in accordance with Federal Regulations. The inspection covers all aspects of the operation of the airport, including airfield maintenance, training and inspection records, and aircraft rescue and fire fighting.
The federal airport inspector commended the staff on their hard work and procedures used in the day-to-day operation of the airport. As a result, the airport received the FAA Airport Certification Program Medal of Excellence.
