The Airport Commission of the City of Mason City, Iowa will receive sealed bids at the office of the Airport Manager, Airport Terminal Building, Mason City Municipal Airport, Highway 122, Mason City, Iowa 50401 until 4:00 p.m. on November 8, 2021. Bids received after this time will not be opened. The Commission will meet at 4:00 p.m. on November 8, 2021 in the Airport Commission Room on the second floor of the terminal building to consider
the submitted bids.

Lagoon Decommissioning

Notice of Public Hearing and Notice for Public Comment for Proposed Improvements at the Mason City Municipal Airport, Mason City, Iowa

The Mason City Airport Commission intends to undertake the following proposed actions at the Mason City Municipal Airport:
· The Mason City Airport Commission desires to decommission and remove an existing wastewater lagoon. The wastewater lagoon is located within FEMA Flood Zone AE. As part of the decommissioning the lagoon berms will be removed and the area will be graded to drain.

We are providing notice of a public hearing where we will address the proposed actions potential economic, social, and environmental impacts. In addition, we will address the project’s consistency with the goals and objectives of the affected area’s land use or planning strategy.

The Public Hearing will be held at the following time and place:

Monday November 8, 2021, 4 p.m.

Mason City, IA 50401

Floodplains Information
· The purpose of the proposed action is to decommission and remove an existing wastewater lagoon located south of the airfield.
· The Mason City Airport Commission is seeking FAA funding or approval of an action occurring in the base floodplain or an action that would affect that floodplain
· The proposed action is located at the Mason City Municipal Airport, Highway 122 West, Mason City, Iowa
· The affected floodplain’s existing natural and beneficial values include providing flood storage and conveyance, reducing flood velocities and reducing flood peak flows.
